10" Diameter RC Drilling Rods

Computerised Drilling Parameter Recorder

Project: Bulk Sample from kimberlite orebodies
Client: De Beers Prospecting
Location: Southern Botswana
Technique: Reverse Fluid Circulation and Diamond Coring
Date: 2001/2

Dewet Drilling executed two drilling projects for De Beers Prospecting in Southern Botswana during 2001 and 2002. The project entailed the establishment of the kimberlite bodies by means of inclined core drilled boreholes.

Large diameter vertical boreholes were drilled in the orebodies to extract sample for evaluation. We have initially drilled 22" diameter through the overburden to the top of the kimberlite. Casing of 17.5" diameter was installed. We then drilled with the Fluid RC technique (17.5" diameter) to the end of the hole. The boreholes depth varied from 200 to 300 meters deep. The sample was placed through the return hose onto a vibrating screen to get rid of the water and drilling fines smaller than a specified size.

Number of Fluid RC Holes 300m deep 4no
Number of Fluid RC Holes 200m deep 6no
Number of inclined core drilled holes 15no
Total meters of core drilling 3000m
Total meters of bulk sample drilling 2100m
Total weight of sample extracted 702 tons
