Fluid RC Bulk Sampling

The technique entails the removing of drilled material by roller or drag bits through the drilling rod and rotation head to either a cyclone or vibratory screen unit. A borehole is filled with water and replenished constantly from settling ponds to maintain that level. The water flow to bring the sample up in the rod is actuated and maintained by compressed air with a small airline in the drilling rod. The speed of sample return is much slower than conventional RC and is thus not so, where the requirement is to obtain as large as possible drill chip samples.

  • Dewet Drilling has two complete units for Fluid Reverse Circulation drilling
  • We have 200m of 10", 300m of 8" and 450m of 5" diameter drilling rods
  • Drilling diameters from 8" to 28"
  • Two vibratory screen units to remove sample material fines as per client specification
  • Drilling depths down to 300m with the larger diameters and 450m with the smaller diameters.
  • This technique provides the following:
    • Excellent open borehole stability in unconsolidated soft drilling material
    • Uncontaminated and representative bulk samples
    • Clean borehole sidewall for the construction of water production boreholes
    • Excellent sample protection diamonds rubber linings
